George: “It’s cold in winter in Poland"
Kevin has a neighbor, George who is an overzealous, sophisticated, highly cultured, highly polished, highly educated lawyer who is truly better than us. He is a font of knowledge and inspires and educates us every occasion he can get.

Last week, George dropped by, unannounced and was discussing plans for New Year’s Eve, with Kevin. Kevin mentioned that I will be in Europe for New Year’s Eve. George asked me where I was going to be.

“Krakow, Poland” I said.

“It’s going to be really cold there.” he said.

He continued, “You should have gone some place like Italy where it’s much warmer. That’s what I would have done. Gone to Rome or someplace warm.”

“It shouldn’t be that bad.”

“Not that bad? You’ll freeze your ass off in Poland. It’s cold there in winter.”

George is so smart. I didn’t know this information. Damn, I should have planned my trip differently.

I didn’t have the heart to tell him that I will be going to the Baltic states where, between the higher latitude and being close to the water, the temperature will be about 10 degrees colder in Riga than in Krakow.
